Finally... after the 2.2 inches of rain we got last Sun/Mon, green is starting to come put of the ground. But what is this? Turnips? Rape? Radish? Clover? I threw all of that out.

Either turnips or rape. They look pretty much the same. Due to the dry conditions, I re-seeded a plot myself with wheat, oats and rape. This is a pic of the rape starting to come up.

You like the rape better than turnips?

I normally plant my plots with a mix of both rape and turnips. I haven't been able to tell if the deer like one better than the other. Rape seed is a little cheaper than turnips so I just used them when I reseeded to save a little money.

Looks like rape, probably only a 2-3 weeks before good frost so they may not amount to much. Any cereal grains you planted should do well though.

Here is a picture of the plot today. Things are starting to come up. I still dont know whether this is rape, clover, or radish. Maybe all of it. Deer are already using.

I have the same thing coming up in ours Back Home. The deer are killing it. We saw 18 last night. I was watching a 2.5 yo 8pt for 20 minutes walking around looking for these sprouts you have pictured. He seemed to almost get excited when he found one

I hunted here in South MS last night. On a plot with wheat, clover, and rape sewn 14d ago. Had 2 come in feeding on the 2in tall wheat sprouts, and ignored the corn feeder. Didnt feel like fooling with the huge dry doe in the 80deg temps, so she got a pass

Whatever is it, rape, radish, or turnip, they like it here too.
