Ice eaters?

Looking at buying a generator and ice eater so we can hunt through these hard freezes. What is everyone running and how big of a hole does it keep open? We primarily hunt an oxbow that varies from 2-6ft deep.

I run a kasco 1hp. That 1 hp ice ripper looks good and the price isn't bad at all.

Had this hole open from one 1 HP Higdon ice blaster. It was straining a 3500 generator though to start under water. It did great. Shallow water ice ripper or Puddle buster 100%. My Puddle buster motor went out and they replaced the motor quickly in Dyersburg for $175.

Kasco and a 2000 generator. We run it in a rice field where the bottom is touching the field. We try to put it deeper, but it's not an option sometimes.

That's good to know. Just watching the video they look nice and easy to move around.

We just got the ice ripper for this last weekend. Not too bad to put it together and it did a fine job when the generator actually had fuel in it to run… for the $ I am very happy. Only one I've ever had though

Running 3 1hp kascos. We have full electric. Been hunting ever day, not froze yet. Killed 32 this eve. Two gadwall trackers. Standing corn. Shallow water, dig a hole. Or, mount em on flotation, point straight up against bottom of freezer foam, leave bout one or two inch gap, it is pushing water up, hittin bottom of panei, water disperses outward, all way around. Put full bodies on top of panel, grass, vegetation.. No need to adjust. Always floatin.

We use freezer panels. A square piece about 3 ft . In diameter. Make a couple hangers, mount to the sides of the ice eater, on the discharge end. Sit eater on floor, discharge pointed straight up. Take panel, sit it down on top center of eater. Picture it looking like a tabletop. Now, you want to mount eater to panel in this position with hangers. When mounting , you will want a gap of two , maybe 3 inchs from discharge end of eater between eater and panel. So now eater is mounted under panel. Center of panel, discharge is pointed upward toward panel. When you place in water, eater is hanging just beneath panel, the panel floats. Supporting eater underneath. When runnig. The flow is going straight up hitting bottom of panel, water goes out every direction. So from top side, you see a piece of panel. We paint top of panel mud colored, lay grass, corn stalks on it . Put full bodies on it. Stake oanel out with rope on two sides. Deadly, natural flow for feeding duks. Forgive my pic. But you get the idea. With these floating, they never need adjustin. Never make a sound. One T post each side with rope, they float up ,down, with water level. If shallow field, just dig hole for eater to sit down in

Great idea! Ice eaters with electricity and no generator drone is such a killer combo…
