I used to try to get stuff out as early as possible only to get killed by frost some years. The few years my early stuff didn't get killed, it was USUALLY only a week or so ahead of the later planted stuff. I almost always wait until the last week of April/first week of May to plant warm season veggies. It stays pretty cool in these E TN "hollers" until May.

I'm in SW TN, so I get a little more leeway on planting early.

I've put lettuce, beans, peas, kale, strawberries, zucchini, and a couple of other things out. The lettuce and peas are coming up already.

I just put together another raised bed and filled with dirt yesterday. Got some plants on sale the other day, so I'm throwing those in the new garden to get a head start (tomatoes, herbs, cabbage, broccoli, and several kinds of peppers).

Looking forward to some backyard groceries!!
