How many of you guys hunt Ohio, I just got an invite to hunt in Jefferson county on private land Nov. 8-16th. Anybody got any advice or any stories from that area. Btw I have never hunted out of east TN !

You won't be sorry. I'll be there the 1st- 11th. In Athens co. The Ohio rut is unlike anything you will ever experience in tn

I will second what everyone else is saying..... I have seen some of the biggest deer I have ever hunted in Ohio. I wish other States would look at what they are doing and copy there Rules and regulations. I hunt in Muskingham county and the deer are BIG.... 140 - 150 class all day long

I've had the best luck during in the first or second week in November. I like to be there when they start chasing. You never know what will show up. I'm envious of you guys going this year, I can't make the trip because of family health issues. Hope everyone nails a booner!

I have hunted up there a couple of years and the first week of Nov. always showed the best sign and but with this strange weather we are having hard to pin point a week. We hunted in the upper counties around muskinghum i think that's how you spell it..

I was in Adams county last weekend, deer are starting to make rubs and scrapes. It was pretty warm, let a 120 class 8 pointer walk and saw 4 does. I will be back in a couple weeks. Won't be long till its wide open...

I'd like to see the mount of that HUGE bca Adams co. buck that you posted last year.

Theres very few locals bowhunt and if they do they wait till the rut. I have never hunted during the gun season because I hear that it is just dangerous to be in the woods. Most of the public land that we have hunted is great you can call the Ohio dnr and they will send you maps of the land in whichever county you would like. The Wayne national forest is a great place to hunt. I know a lot of people that hunt in Jackson co with great success.

Hey Twra maybe you should take notes Ohio 1 buck a year kentucky 1 buck a year. I wonder why both states have 120"+ bucks running everywhere must be the dirt right????? ............smh don't let my comment hijaock this post please just stateing the obvious

I will be in Meigs Co. Nov. 3-10 for my third year in a row. I see more bucks in one week than I do in 2 or 3 seasons here. I hadn't ever really experienced a true rut til I ventured up there. First year I hunted there I got to watch 5 bucks chasing one doe. That may not be a big deal to some of you West TN guys but its almost unheard of around here. Can't wait, just hoping for cool temps!

You are kidding, right? Surely you haven't missed all the discussion on that very topic. It has been giong on for several years. You can't have missed it all. Or, do you have a reading comprehension problem and don't understand some of what you read?

Anyway, there is a very logcial and factual answer to your question. It is because...

Oh, never mind.

be careful if you go to ohio and hunt, once you go to the land of the big bucks you wont want to come back to tenn. and hunt,it is a differant world of hunting up there. We have a 1300 acre lease in adams county and since june we have 10 to 15 bucks on camera that will go over 150" and picts of probably 40 differant bucks big and small and got picts of 3 new big bucks last week it is like the land of OZ for big bucks.i cant wait til nov.2-10 and hunt

Ok, we settled on a date, gonna head up to Jefferson county on Nov 5th-12th, I am pumped! I have never hunted outside of east TN,maybe I can bring home a P&Y! My buddy had a hard time talking me into putting the smoke pole down here to pick the bow back up for up there, but like you guys , he said I would not regret it! Good luck to everyone the rest of the season , should be getting good in a couple weeks!

We hunt in Meigs Co. not far from the Vinton and Gallia Co. lines on public land.

Warning!!! Your E. TN hunting will never be the same. Those dates should be perfect.

Good lord! The deer on the left is a freak. Out of curiosity, what did the one on the right score? I missed one last year that looked similar to it.

This is not an official score. I probably gave myself the benefit of a doubt on a few of those measurements.
