If possible, I like hunt from the ground during firearm season over fields.

I have some Stoney Point shooting sticks to support my firearm.

Anyone else hunt from the ground? I like the flexibility.
 
I usually do, at least I did most of the time last year during gun season. that's how I killed my 1st deer ever - a young 5 pt at 8 yards from the ground. I prefer ground hunting really but have taken a liking to the treestands since I started bowhunting this year. Still will be hunting from the ground plenty this year. More mobility for sure. I don't have or use a shooting stick though. Might not be a bad idea, but I could always use my knee.
 
Killed most of my deer from the ground, but my biggest from a stand. I hunt from the ground now, because someone stole my stand, and I can't afford to buy another.
 
I've killed several deer from the ground. I don't have a climber and there is no way I can afford ladder stands for all my favorite spots to hunt so I have stands on my top 5 and will post up against a big tree for the rest. I could just be weird but I think it adds considerable excitement to the hunt getting down on their level.

The only way I've ever hunted. Tried almost all of the shootin sticks over the years. Primos trigger shootin stick best by far.
 
I like the mobility of hunting from the ground. The one kicker is having the patience to sit absolutely still.
 
If it's really windy I've got a spot I'll go and overlook a field. I rarely just sit on the ground though. I've got a couple turkey blinds I'll sit behind or I'll pile up some brush and sit behind it.

UT I do mostly every bit of my hunting from the ground. I dont use shooting sticks at all. Just more crap to carry in the woods. I use trees fallen down logs my knees, prone, sitting (marine corps shooting tech) I get to cold in tree stands i have learned deer seem to look up more now then ever. We have educated them well. Just try diff things and enjoy it. I have also stopped worring about killing deer. I kill more just by having fun out there and easing through the woods.
 
I hunt from the ground a lot. This will be my first year with a shooting stick. One of those trigger adjustable things from Primos or Knight & Hale or one of those companies that all sound the same to me.

Usually I just ball up under a tree and use my leg as a rest. I like the rush of having a deer walk by me five feet away and never flinch. Fun stuff.
 
I've got a spot where I can sit on a log road behind an embankment. I can see up the side of the point, but when you're up on top, all you can see is my head. I can sit in a chair, and anything on the point can't see it anyway. Neat little trick I picked up.
 
Bought a Caldwell field pod for my daughter. Its extremely light and perfect for blind hunting. Check it out. Best $100 I've spent this year by far!

X2. My buddy gave me so much hell about that shooting stick until I went 2 for 2 in one hunt.. even when I am at the range I catch myself using the stick rather than the bench rest
 
UT Grad, I hunt exclusively from the ground. I usually set up limbs and set me up a natural blind using whatever is around me. (Fallen trees in My opinion make great blinds) I set up a comfy stool I carry in my back pack and rest my gun on shooting sticks. 90% of Deer I've killed have been using this tatic. In 2010 I killed 2 Bucks in Back to Back Saturdays sitting behind the same fallen down tree with my muzzleloader on shooting sticks.

Best $100 I have spent also. They are twice as good as a stick !
