Let's see some pics of everybody's hunting camps. Cabin, tent set ups, 14x80 singlewide, whatever it may be. Post em up!

This is our hunting cabin. Old barn turned into a nice little shack. 1 bedroom, living room, kitchenette, 1 full bath. Sleeps 4 all in the barn loft. Below is my workshop, I poured all concrete floors in the bottom and have a butchering room as well. Actually just painted it and replaced the roof. It's simple, but perfect for my weekend retreat.

At the time we built this, I was living in Louisville, KY, and I drove the 4 hours one-way every weekend for a year to complete it.

The main part of the cabin is two stories, but the Great Room (the section with the chimney) is one big open ceiling room:

No, but in November, much of the family almost does! We're probably there more days than we're not.

We've had a bunch staying there during Thanksgiving. As for actual beds, it's equipped for around 15, but we have sleeper sofas and window beds enough to sleep at least 20.

GOOD GRIEF!! Dude..thats beats my HOUSE! Suoer nice.

Our original plan for a log cabin was a one-room shack with a pot-bellied stove in the middle and bunk beds along the walls.

Then my mother got ahold of the plans. We ended up with brass ceiling fans, washer/drier, full kitchen, etc. Basically, a vacation home. But because of that we use it MUCH more often than we would have had it been very basic. It's become a year-round "retreat" versus a just a hunting camp. Heck, I got married there, right in the living room!

Dr. Grant Woods of GrowingDeerTV and his wife spent their honeymoon there. Toxey Haas of Mossy Oak has stayed there.

Mine would be a 3-sided lean to with the coolest thing being the once-yearly refresh of cedar boughs.

Kudos to all of you. Great places.

Here are a few pics from our Illinois Camp.
The Gambrel was built after a few years of having to let deer hang in the rain. NOT GOOD for deer that are going to be mounted to let the cape get wet.

Note the winch.

Also, this cabin sleeps seven comfortably but we rarely have more than five or six.

It has a gas heater, electricity, and indoor plumbing as well as A/C.

The "Wall of Fame" boasts hunters with 5 x 7 (bragging rights but not 125 gross) and 8.5 X 11 (gross Pope and Young).

It can be rented.

Mines not quite as fancy, but this is it from last year.

102,

Was that a pre-fab building, or did you build that from scratch? Nice camp!

Actually BSK, I designed this cabin at a kitchen table (at home) 5 hours away from the land in Illinois. Then I went to Lowes, Home Depot, a couple other lumber yards with the materials list and got the best price on all the materials involved with wood and siding.
THen I got the metal roof bids.

Then went to a couple demolition sites and salvaged lights, outlests, switches, sink, and miscelaneous other stuff.

Then I designed the pump (RV type with 12 volt converter) as well as the sump pump to fill the water tanks (toilet, shower, sinks).

Then, one day in Spring of 2001, we all loaded up our trucks and tandem trailers, tools, generators and supplies, and headed to Illinois. It took 4 days to clear and get the 4 corners and floor joists built.

We were finished by Fall for hunting season after several trips.

It is 4.5 hours from home.

THe gambrel for hanging the deer was built in a day.

I am a carpenter for my side job.

BSK, I'm adding more beds to my place now that I have 6 grandkids...interested to know what it is you are calling a window bed?

Coach,

A window bed is a long, wider than normal "couch" seat, built along an outer wall usually directly under a series of windows, that doubles as a bed. These can also be built hollow so they can be used for storage under the large single cushion.

How do I show a picture like you guys have without adding a link to a photobucket account?

set your album settings to "private" and all they can see is the pic you post
