Till turkey season. I can't wait. I'm hearing crows in my deer stand and all I can think about is if a turkey will gobble at it!

I got it bad huh.

I heard a few jake gobbles prior to fly down on Saturday. Always reminds me of when Peter Brady's voice was changing.

Saturday morning I had a gobbler sounding off all morning. It felt like spring time. He gobbled for two hours strait. Fall season will be here soon, its not as fun but its about meat in the fall.

I spent the last couple of hours yesterday afternoon in a blind on the edge of a freshly planted food plot(the oats and peas are already up, lol). I had a muzzleloader in hand, but I was really turkey hunting! 3 adult hens came out into the field, one getting within 20 yards before they walked out the other end. A half hour later 21 hens came from the same direction, and they were all over me, 10 yards, etc. Saw a bunch of 7 longbeards on us today. I'm gonna kill a turkey on Dec. 6. Problem is which one? Even though we are covered up with hens, I still have a problem shooting one. So I'll try for a gobbler, but if success doesn't come within a reasonable period of time, I make have to rethink my position on shooting a hen!

They were all over me yesterday afternoon when I had a .270 in my hands, and while its not quite the same as a spring hunt, I plan to put myself in the middle of their travel routes next week and see if I can't get one to walk into me!

The fish haven't figured that out for the past month of so. lol The best time to turkey hunt or crappie fish is when you can go, and the state allows it.

How about in the morning, Monday Dec 6th? I'll probably be out there at some point during the day, but with a northwest wind and the low projected where I'll be in the high teens, methinks I might not be there at dawn! lol

Am I reading the regs right? I am in Giles. Can you kill 6 Dec 6-10 only with shotgun or can you shotgun hunt Dec 6 -17 for 6?

Nevermind, saw answer in another post. Looks like I can have fun the entire period 12/6 through 17 :) If only I did not have to work :)
