I have a Bushnell Trophy Cam HD just out of warranty and Bushnell won't do anything for me so I made them ship it back to me. It has an overactive PIR sensor. It thinks something is triggering it so it takes a pic every 5 seconds until it fills up the card or kills the batteries. Before I trash it, can any of you home brew guys use it for parts?

I've seen that "runaway" triggering more with Bushnells than any other brand.

But before you trash it,
you might be able to use it as a "field scan" camera.

You may not have the option of having two different times of day for operation,
but you might be able to set the triggering frequency to say 15 minutes, where it will simply take a pic every 15 minutes. This can be a useful option for seeing where & when deer (or turkey) are coming & going into fields, especially since most would be beyond the triggering range.

Otherwise, I'd have no use for it, but thanks for the offer.

Interesting idea. I'm going to play with the settings. Thank you.

Or a "decoy camera" to deter others, and if it is stolen, who cares?
Now that is a great idea!

I would just about get the farm that if you will take some Emory cloth and clean the battery contacts up and roough them up some it will fix the problem. Runaway triggering is ALWAYS a power issue in one form or another.
