What kind of camping policy have they got at BSF? Can a person set up a tent camp close to where he wants to hunt,etc..? I've never been up there but was debating on hunting for hogs there in Feb. after big game season closed everywhere else.

PO Cedar, you can camp at the campgrounds BUT you can also get a Backcountry Camping Permit for a few bucks and stay out in the woods where the hogs are. I know the store in Allardt sells them.

That's what I was hoping. LBL is now a "Nat'l.Rec Area"(since 1999) and continues to allow backcountry camping so I was hoping BSF had the same arrangement. Thanks,ss.

Anybody connect on a hog at BSF this season? I went up and looked around but didn't see any fresh hog sign. Saw a few buck rubs from this season.

I made camp in the back of the truck. The temp got down into the 20s the first night and I had trouble getting out of the sleeping bag when the alarm went off the next morning. I finally staggered out and made a cup of coffee and gulped down some dry granola cereal before heading down into the canyon. The trek back out of the canyon made me think I was back in Colorado.

There wasn't anything stirring to kill. The only living things I saw were some birds and a red tailed hawk.I couldn't believe I could cover that much distance,on foot and driving thru the place both days and saw not one critter.
