Are they worth a crap? Do the sights point anywhere close to where the bullets actually hit?

No, There is a reason they are so cheap...…...because they are.
Take a look at the Ruger Wrangler.

No first hand knowledge of the Wrangler other than I plan to buy one some day. Most reviews I read are very positive. Check the Ruger and Rimfire forum.

Dude asked if I wanted to shoot his pistol, I said sure, hang it on the tree, but, I can be that way sometimes, wife doesn't get it.

I have one and it's extremely accurate and a blast to shoot. Love mine. I also have the magnum cylinder. Mine will hit high if you dont bury the front sight in the groove all the way .
