My mom loves to fish! Nothing serious, she just loves to see her bobber go under. I just got my first boat and tried taking er today. We put in at Johnson's creek and went down to the Harpeth and tried a few spots. Caught a few very small cats and a drum. Can anyone give me some pointers on where to go what to use? She likes live bait with a bobber. And prefer to stay close to the north end so she doesn't have to ride too much.

Thanks

I have never been at the mouth of the Harpeth but if I went there by boat I would go up the harpeth river a little and fish. I think creek/river mouths are usually good spots to fish. especially when it rains and the water comes up

I have much better luck below the dam. Have caught a few on the johnsons creek side but it's very hit or miss for me there (speaking in terms of catfishing)

This time of year, fish the main channel. Look for rocky/gravel banks with blow downs. If you use bobbers, fish in and around the blow downs. If you don't use a bobber, you can just cast out the back of the boat and wait for the rod tip to twitch. You can use night crawlers, crickets, or minnows.
