I just read the thread on the record Clovis and looked at the date...June 2010. This got me to thinking, is there a relation to the number of finds and the severity of weather (ie heavy/frequent rains)? That is the year we got the real heavy rain in April/May and all the flooding.

Yes sir Rain causes the soil to Percolate. You can often find arrow heads ,coins ,and other artifacts in a area thatu have found them previously after a good rain.

A field near a creek that has been disced can produce lots of finds after every rain. One of our 1 acre food plots in Hardin County has a small area about 75 feet in diameter that will produce 2 or 3 points every time it's disced. The rest of the field never gives up anything.
