Had an awesome morning today ! Could not even count the number of deer I seen. I ventured off into an area (river bottom) that I never get into because of it being so thick and nasty! I always thought of this area as the core bedding and primarily hunt around it only having access to two sides with the neighboring property having the other two sides. This is old cutover that is just plain nasty with standing water, logging ruts, small saplings, cypress knees etc. etc. I got brave this morning and bit the bullet and very thankful for cell service and the app "Back County Navigator" I walked 150 + or - yards off the logging road in and sat down beside a tree at 06:45, immediately had two little bucks walk past me only to come back 15 minutes later, they finally split and about a 45 minute span on nothing the woods came ALIVE !! Deer were in every direction I looked then I caught a glimpse of a beautiful 6 that was as wide or wider than this guy but I let him walk and then this feller shows up !! Doe everywhere with little bucks mingled in but no chasing, 60 yard shot and he bolted, noticed a little tail twitching so I knew the shot was good but my gosh he ran like no other !! Had a dang near solid blood trail which went rite into the middle of this junk (thankful again for gps !) Had a long drag as there was no way possible to get my atv to him but I finally got him out. Standing in the middle of "no mans land" I could not distinguish any sort of direction...Anyhow thanks for reading and sorry for the long post
P.S. I have Cabela's Recon but IMO Back Country Navigator is 10 times better, check it out !
