Make sure you wear your safety belts. Brand new stand collapsed hanging it for the first time.
The entire platform folded up like a wet noodle where the ladder meets the platform.

Wow. Glad you are ok. Normally there are braces that go from the ladder to the platform to prevent this. It doesn't look like this stand has them.

Glad your ok. That could have been real bad. Yeah, curious about a brand and about how exactly that happened. Was the stand secured in the middle? Kind of looks like it pulled away from the tree and weight carried downward. Would be sure to contact the manufacturer.

Used an extension ladder to tie up a ladder stand from the backside of a fairly large oak here the other day. Was actually concerned about it pulling away from the tree without the top ratcheted down and did not want to climb the top and try to ratchet it down from in the stand.

It was a Sniper tree stand. Yep made it China. Ordered a cheap one from Sportsman's Guide and it came back to haunt me. Could have been a lot worse though.

Wow I have 2 of those ready to hang. Makes me wonder if I should use them.

Just my experience. Everything I've ever gotten from sportsmans guide was cheaply made. I won't buy anything there anymore. Glad you are ok.

I've heard of another stand without the supports doing the same thing. I'm not sure what type it was.
Thanks, I've made a mental note to make sure a stand has the supports if it is one of the top heavy models.

Let me get this strait. You are getting the same stand again? Brother you are making me think you shouldn't be in a tree. No way on Earth I would buy or even get in that same brand and model of stand again. Thanks for the heads up. Stay safe.

I have that exact same stand. I hung it a couple weeks ago. It didn't seem to have any issues and I jumped around on it after I hooked up my harness. I only weigh 145 lbs so I'm sure that had everything to do with it. I'll hunt in it but I guess I won't let the wife sit with me nor will I purchase another cheap one like it. Thanks for sharing and glad you didn't break your neck.

Thanks for your concern. I never planned on hunting out of this one. Don't think I've hunted out of a ladder stand in about a decade for that matter. It was part of an agreement I have with a guy that let's me hunt with him. Wanted me to buy and put up a stand for him overlooking one of his plots. So I bought the cheapest one possible. I told him what happened and he seems to be ok with it. I'm sure I've spent more hours in a tree safely that you could imagine. How I avoided an accident with this POS. Good luck this year
