I don't own a motorcycle but if I did and you could ride without one there's no way I would. Had a guy about 4 or 5 years ago wreck his crotch rocket almost in front of my house. He lost control, clipped a telephone pole, and a brick mailbox stopped him after he had already come off his bike. Not to be gross but gray matter was coming out of his ears. Needless to say he didn't make it even though he was wearing a helmet but at appx. 110 mph it doesn't really matter. I'd rather take my chances with something on my noggin but to each their own.

I think it should be up to the individual on weather to wear a helmet or not. Even though it would be stupid to ride without one. And more stupid for other people to pay for medical bills when they split their skulls open.

Only problem with no helmet people is that when poor Johnny falls off and cracks his head, he gets to the hospital and whips out that Tenncare card, me and you and the other taxpayers will be footing the bill. Sure accidents will still happen but head injuries can turn into long expensive stays and bills.

My brother-in-law is alive today because he refuses to ride his Harley without a helmet, even though Ohio doesn't require one. He never saw the deer that hit him from the side when it was crossing the interstate. He woke up in the ambulance on the way to the hospital and was told what happened.

I wouldn't wear one either if there wasn't a law requiring one. I think the helmet law and seatbelt law should be the same. . . at the operator's discretion.

I don't like helmet or seat belt laws. If people are not wearing a seat belt or helmet at the time of a crash it's their decision. The only caveat is that their health insurance should not pay the claim as my premiums will increase due to their risky behavior. If someone chooses to get injured paragliding, skiing, base jumping, bungee jumping extreme nountain climbing or ridng without a helmet it's a choice. As long as they pay far it and the expenses aren't passed along to me or other tax payers I'm good with it. I wear my safety equipment religiously.

Yep!! :(

Don't wear a helmet as long as you can foot the your own dr bills, if I have to help foot the bill then you don't deserve a bike anyway

I can foot my own damn medical bills, always have and always will. Sure is nice to know all you guys are concerned about us bikers...........or more like someone's nose stuck in someone elses business.

Funny thing is most people cry like little byotches about losing freedoms but are fine with big brother telling you to wear a helmet or a seatbelt. There are people killed or injured for life everyday in automobile accidents so it might not be a bad idea to pass a law requiring helmets in automobiles. Better yet lets just make it law that you wear a helmet period unless you are sleeping.......then again you never know there could be a meteor crash into your house while sleeping and the helmet just might save your life.......oh he!! lets just make it law you have to wear one all the time, maybe that would ease the minds of you very concerned citizens..... :D

I do care about bikers and have a family slammed full of them which is why I think a helmet is a good idea. I have 3 friends who were hit and killed by cars in the last 9 months, had 2 of them been wearing helmets they wouldn't have had their skulls split from front to back and brain matter all over the road for their kids and family to get a good look at. The two that could have survived we're rear ended by cars doing less than 25 mph.

The way I see it is when my number is pulled it is just time. Whether it is on my bike, tractor, 4 wheeler, hunting or just sitting around having a few cold ones and fall out.

I don't knock anyone that wants to wear a helmet but sure wish I was able to make that decision myself.

Sorry to hear about your 3 friends, motorcycles are everywhere, I wish drivers would pay more attention to them.
