Reading another thread got me thinking that I'd like to be more diligent in maintaining a deer hunting journal. Has anyone found a really good smart phone app you could recommend for this?

I don't use a specific journal app. I use Evernote while in one of the deer houses to take pictures and make notes. I need to be more consistent with it but it is interesting to go back and read some of the previous year's ramblings.

I'm curious what features you would like to see in an app. I am taking a course this semester on apps writing for the Android platform. So I may use this as an idea. Tell me what features and functions you would like to see on an app.

I now use Cabelas Recon Hunter app for iPhone (also one for Android). Made for them by Trimble Outdoors and now I think only sold by Trimble. I like it. Before that I used a kid's composition book.

Here are some beginning ideas...places to record time, temp, wind, pics, notes. I will think of more and post.

also a very user friendly interface. While I could figure out how to use any app, it would be nice to have a very clean and easy format to make journaling easier. I guess like the twra app, it's very plain and easy to do just what you need to do.

I've always been a journal writer, so I apply that to do a hunting journal as well. I use a 100% handmade/sown leather journal and get a new one each year and they emboss it with my initials and year. http://www.roguejournals.com/store/jour ... urnal.html It is 4"X5" inches or so, it stacks perfect without taking up a lot of room and will last way after I'm gone so my kids, g-kids or whomever can look back at what I've experiencedbeing mainly a public land hunter....I have some stories, but record pertinent info as well.

Has anyone tried the hunting journal app?

I've downloaded it over the summer but I have not used it yet or played with it much to see if It is what I am looking for.

I am looking for a good app to use too

I also went a section that tells me where and when to hunt to kill a big mature buck!!!! LOL!

I use the hunting journal app, it has a lot of the basic stuff you need. It's probably not the best but I like it. It's simple to use.
