I don't own a VX1 but for $225 you can find a VX2. I sold a matte duplex VX2 3x9x40 to a member here for $175.

I bought a VX-I 2-7X33 two weeks ago at Gander Mountain in Bowling Green KY for $160. They still had one left last Sunday. This wasn't the rimfire, but I think a regular rifle scope would work as well for you. The main difference (besides objective size) is the parrallax setting.

You can order them through Mid South Shooters Supply for $199 plus shipping. So $209 delivered is about par.

I gotta have the rimfire or an AO,and would prefere a 28 mm so I can get the scope close to the bbl,,it makes a difference on small close targets.

After looking at the nice gun you ordered, I'd get the scope you suggested...2-7X28 Rimfire. My original reply was before I read your other poss, and didn;t realize the gun you were gettign it for.
