What is the general thinking about deer's memories as far as winding you goes?

How long do they remember and avoid an area or do they really?

With this devilish NE wind I've been winded most every day by a few deer, but not all because they don't all come from the same direction.

I had one doe blow a dozen or more times yet calmed down and walked off along with the other three does with her.

I've had several doe groups catch my scent at rather long distances and simply turn and trot off without blowing.

Yesterday, I had three does and a NICE buck coming to me until they caught my scent and trotted away. No blowing or real panic, just decided to go the other way , not even any flagging. of all the directions a deer could come, this nice buck and his harem came from directly downwind....

I'm seeing deer come from most any direction, even behind me along the creek, and I'm seeing lots of deer in the mornings, so I hate to stop hunting it, even though a westerly wind of some kind (sw, w, nw) would be BEST.

if I'm still seeing all these deer even though I have been winded every day by one deer or more, with this wind, I can't imagine what it will be like with a GOOD wind.....

What ever happened to those W, SW and NW winds I remember?????

is it common knowledge that deer will avoid an area if they wind you or do they seem to understand that in farming communities, human scent is just a part of their lives and they avoid it when they can yet don't simply leave an area because humans are present.....basically, if you get winded by a doe group or even maybe a traveling buck, will he or she come back through in a day or two . it seems like if they completely left an area everytime they got spooked by a human they would run out of places to go...lol.

thanks.....just wanted some opinions...I have my own, but just curious what ya'll think.

thanks again

What about when you hunt a actual farm where the farmer is always out feeding working fences normal farm work the deer always see the farmer. Are they still cautious when they wind you?
