Ok not to turn this into a religious thing but man it has been on my mind all day.

i know the season is not very old but man i have had a rough go of it thus far (as i posted the other day) so last night i literally prayed for something to happen to turn things around. Not really a prayer of desperation more just a 1 on 1 talk with god and a request to help me turn some things in my favor. Maybe a silly prayer to some but thats another story.

so not long after that i get a call from my buddy to go hunt on his farm, it would be blind hunting but either way it is a new spot to go check out. Pretty much just happen to be in the right general area as the sun was coming up and just happen to sit in a way that both of us could see different things.

had 3 hens walk literally within feet of us and keep going without us getting busted. Had 5 jakes come in that the LB didnt like and for whatever reason he broke off his hens and other group to come check us out and just happened to be in range when i finally saw him.

Im just saying, its crazy I pretty much prayed for today to be somewhat different then the previous days and a lot of things happened today that normally would not go a hunters way. I dont pray to kill something or for a miricle to just happen for me but i do pray all the time during seasons for God to help guide me and show me the way. For him to help me make decisions and to help me be silent and still. Hunting to me is just an awesome avenue for you to talk to god way more then you normally would.

today is a great example to me of one of my favorite verses

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

anyways carry one, just really though all that happened today was very fitting that TO ME god definitely chose to shine on me today.

I know that a relationship with Christ is amazing. I found God in 06 while deployed to Iraq, and my life is so much better now. And in my opinion nothing is more powerful than the power of prayer!

So good to hear folks give God the praise. Nothing too small or too simple to ask God for. Sometimes I think we give luck too much credit. I've been trying to completely remove the word from my vocabulary.

I dont always remember to pray for success in the field. But I do try to thank the good lord when I had a good day. Even if I dont kill nuthin. :)

man I think I just asked god to help me get a longbeard this morning, and he not only gave me one but one with a very nice beard, and also the other hunter in the same field got one too. Considering I didn't even know how long his beard was when I shot him - just picked the first red white and blue head and popped it - I say it was a special gift that I killed that bird. Sending some thanks upward was one of the first things to do after grabbing that bird and putting him out. Hope yall have a great season and I will be out there chasing more birds whether or not I kill another!

One should be careful doing that..... if it didn't have a visible beard it would not have been legal to shoot.... no mater how red, white, and blue his head is.

Is for me too :)

Yea, it may seem silly to some to ask Him to help us with such things, but if you can't ask God for help with the little things in life you are certainly going to have trouble asking Him for help with the big issues IMO. Most importantly is to give God praise for successful AND unsuccessful hunts :)

Good post

LOL.... I pray every time I go out, not for success, but that only HIS will be done. AS well as the usual thanks for simply being able to be in his wondrous creation enjoying it all..
Its good to hear Im not the only one....

well if there was a remote chance of that bird not having a beard then I would have risked getting a ticket but hey when a bird walks by and I know it's a gobbler imma shoot his head!
