I haven't heard of any yet. I am hoping for a good season this year. I know I am going to thin out the doe herd early this year. I held off way to long last year and have an empty freezer.

I hope they change the way the areas are drawn. It is more difficult to me in its current format.

Think im going to attempt to hunt the Fort this year just for archery only. I see I have a lot to learn as far as how the process of hunting it goes because you just cant come and go as you please.

Yes first you need to get on the ISPORTSMAN page and register your account. After your account is registered you hadave to come to fort Campbell and buy your post permit. I think it is like 35.00 for deer only or 60.00 for the sportsman's which allows all species of hunting and fishing. After you get your permit they need to verify your account so you can use it to check into the areas you want to hunt. Make sure when you come to post you bring your Hunter education card and your Tennessee hunting license. They will not validate your account without those 2 items. If you have another questions just ask.

Are there any KML files I can download to open in Google Earth. I've downloaded the Outdoor Recreation Map. If not Ill have to start manually laying out the boundaries of off limit spots etc.

I have an old kmz file for google earth someone created several years ago. Some boundaries and driveable roads have changed. Basically the file is the recreation map that overlays google earth. It's not hard to identify the boundaries once you see the training areas in person.

Sorry I didnt mention the gun I thought he said bow only and being active duty i forget about the background check. And has far has boundaries I literally just use google earth and the outdoor map. The boundaries and off limits roads tend to change from year to year. So I would just download the map from ISPORTSMAN and use google earth, most areas are pretty much separated by major terrain features in all the cardinal directions so it is actually hard to get out of your training area.

You got it! But there are plenty of archery only areas. I think that giant hit by the car last year was in an archery only area.

Negative.... he was staying in an "Off-limits" area.
The archery areas are the most sought after and fill up first.
There are a variety of reasons why this is so and I'll assure it won't change any time soon.

I just wish I lived closer than 4.5 hours away to put some binoculars on summer bucks and get to hunt more in October.

Ill probably end up bowhunting a gun zone. Those archery only areas don't look like they have a lot of habitat diversity like i look for. If drawn ill probably do the primitive camping desl around the lake.

Trust me the archery areas are the way to go if you can get in one. They are a lot of hardwoods on a lot of them but I would venture to say that the bigger deer typically come out of them each year. Has far as camping there are some small cabins that are available next to the check in station. They are very basic and only about 15' x 15' ft big. There is a communal shower facility right next door to them and you are located a lot closer to civilization then if you camp out especially if you get Lake Kyle that would be a far drive if you need anything. All cabins come with double bed, small refrigerator, microwave, chairs and small porch. If i am not mistaken they are $40.00 a night.

I have never heard of these. Got a link? I usually stay at no-frills motel near interstate for 1-2 nights, but nothing is cheap. Last time, I stayed in Marriott for my points and it was only $30 more and bed slept great.

Mine is so small I can't read it without a magnifying glass. I rode around several areas the other day and the habitat/agriculture fields looked really good. I am wondering how many hunters they allow on each zone? Also a little concerned about how to scout or if it even allowed?

You get to know area 50 eally well unless you are military. Area 51 is usually off limits there too.

Caution: new regs as of last year anyone in the rear area must have a permit. I would mot want to be the one caught back there looking around without a permit.
