I put a new a new sight on my bow last week. I got my 10 yrd pin set dead on yesterday and was satisfied by my groups. I had no strays and after about 20-30 shots I had 2 inch groups at 10 yards.

I was satisfied and today I moved to 20 yards and now my shots are consistent but are 4 or 5 five inches to the left. There are now some some shots that fly way off.

I've never thought of myself as an archer and I sold my first bow because I couldn't get accurate enough. How can I increase my accuracy?

I have been working on my anchor points but I noticed now my peep moves up and when it does its too high. I slide it down and it works but after a few shots it creeps back up. Will this change my accuracy?

Absolutely , if your peep barely moves it will change your vertical point of impact a lot . As far as your side to side misses , I would imagine it has something to do with anchor point changes due to you trying to move to the peep .

You need to set the peep to you , not the other way around . First you need to pick a consistent anchor point , most people do something with the first two knuckles and the jawbone . Then you need to get comfortable with that . Once you do , you need to draw your bow and come to anchor with your eyes closed . When you settle in your anchor , open your eyes and your peep should already be lined up with your sight . If it does not , it needs to be moved .

Your peep has to be tied into the bowstring where it can't move. The best way I have found to set it is to get it close to the area where it needs to be. Draw your bow to your established anchor point with your eyes closed. Open your eyes and see if you are looking through the center of the peep. If the peep is not centered, adjust some and draw again with your eyes closed. Continue until you are looking through the center of the peep.

Once the peep is adjusted where you are looking through the center, it must be tied in. You use serving thread above and below the peep to keep it from moving on the string.

Until you get your peep set and securely tied in, you are basically wasting your time in setting sights because the peep movement higher or lower will greatly affect your shooting high or low.

For the group to the side, you may be canting your bow one way or another which causes your pins not to be lined up vertically. A bubble level on your sight will help with that.

As your distance from the target increases, any form error will be magnified and will cause "bigger" misses.

As far as the peep, I have nothing to add--the others have it spot on. Are you tying the peep in yourself, or taking it to a shop?

If at greater distances, you're consistently left, you need to move the sight toward the point of impact and that will move the group to the right.

As far as the left/right misses, that could be so many things--fletching contact, improper grip, canting the bow, incorrect draw length, etc... Most of the time, I've found that most horizontal misses are due to incorrect grip and side pressure/tension during the shot. I so wish you were closer to me!
