I have tried painting the front sight on my Hawkins with a small dot of orange paint so it will show up , but it never last long , anyone got a tip on something else to try , I have a hard time seeing the plain iron sight .

I use a fast dry enamel that I think I got at Hobby Lobby. The brand and color is Plasti-kote glow orange.

Works fine for me. Just make sure you clean the surface you plan on painting to remove any oil.

Appliance paint works great. I use white mostly and have put it on the front sight of hawkins muzzelloaders, shot guns, pistols, etc. Ain't never had it come off even with solvents and oil. It comes in a plastic bottle usually about twice the size of white out. Can get it just about anywhere. Just clean the surface, apply, and let it dry.
