He thought he completely missed this deer. We never found any blood and when he went and shot it he was off big time. Not sure what happened but it was very nice to find it still in good shape. Never like an animal going to waste though. He is getting it mounted so we are excited.
Thanks Cat and Chief....we have a good friend that killed a nice buck that just decided he was not going to mount his buck so he is giving it to my brother to use. This friend is also the one who found my brother's buck when we were shed hunting. My brother called the taxidermist and asked what he needed to do and he went ahead and tagged it. Question...does it count as a regular buck tag for last year or is there a special kind of tag for this type of situation?

Thanks to everyone. He was instructed to call twra and find out exactly what he had to do to stay legal so that is what he did. He was in shock for several days after we found it and didn't get really excited until the last couple of days when the shock wore off He is so pumped now!!!
That's great but I wouldn't waste to much time getting in touch with them. If they don't return your call tag it and let them call you. I bet he'll be on cloud nine til he gets it back.
I have my doubts that deer died in Nov. The hair would not be in that good of shape. It's more likely he expired in the last few days or weeks and survived the initial wound.
