Yeah its dry. About tired of hauling water.Just got finished discing down a food plot and it was awful....the dust just wouldn't leave. On the upside, my smallies are starting to bite. :grin:
 
We got 2 inches here yesterday, over 2,000 in town still without power, but South of the Cumberland River here didn't get any in lots of that area
 
My water holes just have a little water left and are loaded with tracks form all the deer coming to them. Looks like a chance of rain thursday though!
 
Mine is fairly dry but I'm going to plant on Saturday no matter what. I just don't see another opening for me. Got about a quarter inch yesterday according to weatehr and a little last week...hopefully I have some soil moisture to get going and rain comes soon.
 
Most of our plots have been limed, disked, fertilized & cultipacked. Just laying in wait until significant moisture in forecast. Could be weeks, could be a month...as dry right now as it was in early June. However, the Gulf should be getting more active in the coming weeks, so it'll change sooner or later; patience grasshopper. Good time to do other work right now.

Just hate feeding turkeys
 
I put in all of my brassica stuff. Dont worry about birds getting that. Hope to get it to a little start then throw my wheat and oats in over it sometime soon. Surely this hurricane will bring us some rain?
 
And this is why I don't plant until September, unless the weather patterns indicate a wet August and September.

EXCELLENT point. If you want those food plots productive by bow opener, you do have to plant before Labor Day.

We usually plant Labor Day weekend every year and they are pretty well established by the opener. It all just depends on the rain
 
Well I can tell you it has been pouring everyday in Tamoa for about 2 weeks. Afternoon pattern just like every August. Hurricane is shifting north and east. Would just as soon not have a hurrricane, thanks.

well,it hasnt in middle and mid west Tn,its very dry
 
Good for killing weeds though. Yesterday, I looked at some of the ones we turned over a couple of weeks ago and weeds are fried.
 
I normally don't plant until October so I'm not too stressed but all our fields have been turned and are pure dust bowls. We're going to have a magnificent dove shoot because of all the Johnson Grass we knocked down.
