Anyone know the best place to buy a cheap fleshing knife and board? Just looking for a beginner set. They want to make some coon skin caps.
My boys are first year trappers. The boys have trapped 3 coons, a possum, and a groundhog. We just skinned the coons and put them in the freezer. They released the groundhog.

I've bought from all of major supply houses, most numerous times, I go to MTP first: http://www.minntrapprod.com/Stretchers- ... ducts/582/

I've never had a problem with any order from them.

I would not go to a cheap fleshing knife. They don't get the job done properly and you are more likely to tear the pelt up trying. The necker 600 is a mid-grade knife that can get the job done on coon. The more expensive knives are needed on beaver and otter.

A good knife is no good without a good beam. I would get the beam from the supply house as well. And the medium coon boards will work for the coon in the midsouth. If you ever want to ship, they are sized to NAFA specs. The fox boards are good too.

Good fur handling equipment doesn't cost it pays.
