The other thread got me thinking. Fell in love with them on vacation a few years back. never make them myself. I absolutely despise conventional mexican food (alpo over corn chip kind of stuff) but really like blackened fish tacos with spicy slaw. what type of fish should i use and does anyone have any recipes?
BTW- Dont have any halibut, but plenty of flounder, snapper, grouper and mahi

Halibut is good, but the ones you listed are my favorites for fish tacos.

For some reason, tilapia is the fish of choice for most restaurants, but I'd drink my own urine before I would eat tilapia.

And if you're a fan of seared tuna, it's my TOP CHOICE for tacos.

I've yet to make some fish tacos that werent good. I've used all the way down to cod and catfish.

Cod is my favorite. It's fairly affordable, readily available, and some of the snobbish types turn their noses up at it. All things that make me love it. Tastes pretty good, too.

We've cooked cod a few times recently in the skillet, and it's hard to brown it, without it sticking to the pan. What did come up, though, tasted great.
