Not to mention your fine taste in rifles. ;)

This was my first centerfire rifle - a Remington 700 ADL in .243. This was back when the ADLs had a glossy finish, wood stock, and a jeweled bolt (I wish they were still made like that!). My dad gifted it to me when I was about 8 years old. Unfortunately, this is the earliest pic I can find of it, but it had been killing deer for more than 10 years when this picture was taken. This was back in my college days.

The first deer rifle I was ever allowed to hunt with was a Jap Arisika in 6.5 Jap. The first deer rifle I ever bought was a Marlin 30-30 with a POS Tasco. Could not hit the broad side of a barn. so I traded it for a Rem 700 Mountain Rifle and Hunted with it for years eventually upgrading it with a custom hart barrel and McMillian stock with Jewell Trigger.

Nowadays I hunt exclusively with a Bow or a MZ . Just no thrill picking them off at 400 yards.

Nice rifle. I HAD a model 99-E in .308 until some low life broke into my house and stole it and 10 other long guns 2 years ago. About $5000.00 worth and so far nothing has been recovered.

mr.big,
You and your brothers should recreate that picture since you all still have the guns. Be a good excuse to get the shooting competition going again too.
