The weather was nice so I took my grandson on his very first deer hunt, he will be 4 in February. We got in the shooting house at 1:30 and he made it until 4:15 andwas ready to go. We didnt see any deer but he is already talking about going again. I wish you could see the grin on my face.

Take them everytime they want to go. It'll pay off and you'll have a hunting buddy that'll bring new excitement to your hunting!

just remember, when he's ready to quit, it's time to quit. making them stay will turn them off quick.

Yes sir stik, it was 4:15 prime time for the deer to start coming into the field but when he looked at me and said he wanted to go we packed up and headed to the truck.

that's what it's all about, getting to pass what we enjoy in Gods great outdoors on to the next generation. My daughter is 10 and has taken 2 in her first 2 seasons. Now every time I fix deer meat she asks daddy is that my deer, I love it. Keep taking them young'uns hunting.

My kid's first hunt was when he was a teenager. I put him in the stand, gave him a radio and sat in the truck. He got soaked, frozen and didn't see a thing. I knew I had to make amends. The next year I put him beside me in a two man ladder stand, under a roof wearing all new insulated coveralls with hot hands, new boots and toasty toes. At 9:00am the fog lifted and a nice 6 point stepped out. He said "I want an 8 point." I thought, well heck, why not a caribou??!! At 10:00 he shot an 8 pointer.
