This is a picture of my son and the female coyote I shot this evening about an hour before dark. We were using a Foxpro 416B with rabbit distress #1 running slaved to a Jack in the Box lure. It came in at about the 3 minute mark or so running up and staring intently at the decoy. It stopped at about 65 yards and as it was on my side I raised the rifle; it scented us or sensed something was wrong and whirled to run. I shot and caught her in the gut. That spun her around and she made it about 35 yards and we walked up and finished her. She had a pretty pelt with a nice yellow reddish hue. Rifle is a DPMS Sweet 16 shooting Speer 50g TNTs over Win 748. We called some more from the same set but nothing else showed. It was good to break the ice for the season. We are going in the am hopefully. Plateau Hunter
