yes, watch a few youtube coyote hunting videos. Search for eastern coyote hunts. Listen to the pattern, sound and length of calling sequence. Can also go to the foxpro website and preview the call sounds to get the basic sound down.
Walmart usually sells the Haydells cotton tail or government predator call. The metal reed calls like those are easier than open reed. Primos Cat Nip is also a super easy call to use, but have to order online. It is kinda a hybrid open reed but easy to get the hang of. One of my favorites!
I prefer to call 30 second or 1 min sequences, starting soft for first sequence. Wait about 3 min between calling sequences.
Use google maps to find thick areas of interest possibly holding predators. Make sure to chose an elevated stand location with good visibility. Wind preferably will be in your face or cross wind. Sun to your back, if possible. Set up in shade to hide you better. Walk in very quiet, and don't go too deep into target area so to not disturb things. Once on stand, keep movement of head and body to minimum, with no quick jerky movements. After you finish calling, wait at least another 5 to 10 min to see if anything comes later to investigate. Look all around good one last time before getting up or leaving. Most seem to show up within 3 to 7 min, but sometimes they just wait until everything settles down and is quiet.
Good luck! Post how it goes.
