Hey everyone, sort of new to the site. Anyways this Sunday I got my first bow kill, this old buck. I bought my first bow about 2 weeks into bow season. 2 weeks of practice and I was in the woods. my first hunt I had a pretty mature 8 walk about 30 yards from me. my confidence was not their and I decided not to take a shot( best not to scare a shooter buck when black powder is right around the corner). my next hunt was this Sunday. With 2 more weeks of practice under my belt I felt a lot better about my shot. I hunted the morning till about 11. I saw a few small bucks out of range and a group of small doe about 10 yards from my stand but didn't want to blow the hunt on a small deer, but man I was itching to put one down with the bow. I took a lunch and nap then climbed back up around 2. Around 4 in the afternoon this buck came walking through about 20 yards from my stand. He stopped to sniff the tinks 69 I squirted on a branch and at that point I let loose of an arrow. watched him run about 50 yards with the arrow sticking out of him then lay down. I sat in the stand watching him for 30 mins before he managed to get up, he staggered just out of eye sight. I waited another 20 mins then climbed down. at this point it was dark. I finally found a small blood trail. The small amount of blood began to discourage me, it was getting harder and harder to track. Finaly about 100 yards from the stand their he laid in a pile of blood. The arrow had hit him directly in the heart, and I was surprised since the blood trail was so scarce. Needless to say ive never seen a deer bleed so much with a rifle(internally that is), that rage broad head destroyed him. Also the deer was pretty old most of his teeth were missing and his front were so wore down they almost sat flush with the rest of his teeth.
sorry for the long story but im hooked on bow hunting now! thanks for reading
