Hunted this morning with no luck, heard one gobble and saw one lone hen. Left went back to my sons house, went and ate breakfast, and texted catman to see if he was still stuck. He said he was so we drove back to the WMA to help him out. By the time we get there someone had already pulled him out so we decided to spot and stalk. Looked at a couple of fields and spotted some birds. Got a game plan as to how to get to the birds without being seen and started the stalk. Got to the field and got 50 Yds from the birds. Set up and had 2 birds staring into our faces. They knew something was wrong but not sure what it was. I had to do something quick. Found the first beard I had the best shot at and took it. Bang flop. 1/2" spurs 4" beard.

Say what you want, spot and stalk, no decoys.... Yes it is a Jake. No I do not care. It's a legal bird, a legal hunt, and I couldn't be happier.

Public Land also

Congrats man. Spot and stalk is a rush also.

Congrats again. I guess it's a good thing I haven't fixed my front drive shaft yet. I felt bad you came all the way back to help and then someone else pulled me out. But it was worth while... gotta be out there to kill a turkey! Remember that in the future next time you think about quitting for the day... you never know when something's gonna happen.

congrats on #1, if you thought that was fun, wait till you call one right down your gun barrel spitting and drumming!
Man there's nothing like it! I prefer deer hunting over anything but having a turkey rumble your chest gobbling because he's so close is a huge rush.

Congrats on your bird dude!
