Been chassing this bird all day and he finally let his guard down this evening.
Called him in first thing this morning but he hung up at 57 yards. Might could of made the shot but just a tad out of my range.
Only Tom I saw all day, but did see what I think was a bearded hen. He/She only had a pencil thin beard about 6-8" long. Body and head looked like a hen, but who knows this day and age. Probably a "transgender" turkey.
Sorry for the terrible pic but after the shot he flopped around and ended up in the creek.
Not my biggest Tom but was a challenging hunt. 3/4" spurs 9" beard.

Is this the one you had been roosting? Congrats on a nice bird!
I think it may be. I set up on him where I thought he was going to roost.
That's one of the benefits of hunting the same property for 20+ years. You kind of figure out where they are going at any given time. My woods are mostly hardwood except for about a 3/4 acre pine thicket. And that's where they like to roost.
I'll show you when you and Alvin come out.
