I am fired up. The last MK I had, although it uses no 11 Perc caps....was a tack driving shooting son of a gun.
Time to break out the Barnes Expanders and 90 grains of FFFg Triple Seven. What a load. Hope it works in this one. And I REALLY hope that the last owner took care of his barrel and didn't use bore butter in it. That stuff is nigh to impossible to completely remove. I know that some like Bore Butter. And that is fine. But me? I don't buy into that "seasoning the bore" thing with newer MLers. Just my opinion.
On another note: My last MK85 had a muzzle crown so sharp that it would peel (like a carrot peeler) shivers off of the brass range rod. No kiddin!!! Probably why it was so accurate. First thing I;ll do when I get it(next week I hope) is to bed the recoil lug with acra glas gel. My last MK was Laminate stocked. There was minute movement when you wiggled the barreled action in the stock. But when I bedded that sucker....it would lock down rock solid and not wiggle. This MK (that is coming) has a synthetic stock. It will require a bit more use of a small drill and holes drilled at various angles to get the Acraglas to stick and hold. But what a difference it makes on those wonderful old Knights. Another interesting ditty: The barrels on the older MK's could be removed from the reciever. Anyway.....just wanted to talk about my new toy that is coming. (Wish I still had my Savage ML10-2 with a .45 Pac Nor barrel. 2 inch 300 yard groups were the norm. No bull hockey!!!! Using 195 Barnes Expanders and MMP sabots. (Gosh...I'm ramblin.....sorry....trying to get my post count up) I have been an 8 pointer for three or four years.
