I've got 4 plots total from a little over an acre to almost 1/2 acre. I've decided to mix oats and tall tine tubers. Thoughts on this mix

General rules of thumb. Cereal grain (wheat or oats or rye or triticale) plus brassica plus clover.

I like 50lbs grain plus 5lbs brassicas plus 3lbs clover drilled per acre.

I haven't tried oats yet, but haven't found the deer prefer rye over wheat that much, so I go cheap awnless wheat. My agronomist says he has a new triticale coming in that deer will walk thru wheat and rye to eat. Going to drill 2 acres in the middle of a plot with that to test this year.

Looked up the tall tine tubers and it sounds like a nice variety of large turnip....so if the oats and turnips germinate good im sure it will make a nice plot....and you can always top sow some winter wheat or cereal rye a few weeks latter to thicken the plot some if needed...but if the oats and turnips are thick and full it will be a nice plot...also you might blend in a little crimson clover.
