Field or woods?

I'd rather be in the woods, but with my eyes I lose the shooting light early. I can move to the edge of a field and can hunt a another hour.

Can't decide if I should hunt fields this afternoon or should I back up off the field and get in the woods. What would you guys do?
Depends on what the deer are primarily feeding and where they're primarily bedding when not feeding. Best tactic is to get where they're going before they do, and/or intercept them somewhere along the route. Often, this "tactic" is easier to implement hunting fields in the afternoons, and woods in the mornings.

If you know where acorns are falling, that's probably where the deer are headed, although this could be in the "woods" or under a large oak out in a "field".

Often, a better question becomes should I hunt "more open" areas vs. "more cover" areas? Think in terms of the view from 3 feet above ground. Some "fields" become "heavy cover" while some "woods" are more open than some fields. I generally prefer to hunt "more cover" areas, which are sometimes fields, sometimes woods.
