About 5 or 6 years ago, I planted a handful of oak seedlings in tubes in a hay field. Three survived, and are now about 6 feet tall and leafing out well. They're above the hay, so I figure they should really take off. I want these to grow as fast as possible, so I'm considering fertilizing. Is it worth the effort, and if so what's the best way to do it?

If you get the grass competition away from them, that would really help.
