Food Plots Fertilizer question

I'm planting some clover on about .5 acres. This land has had cows on it all year up till now. My question is fertilizer even needed since mother nature has been doing it for me for years?

Soil test would be the only way to know what it needs. You will likely need lime too.

Soil test now, plant your clover and lime it per the test results. Fertilize in the early fall and mid spring

AFTER! I'm not wasting $$$ on fertilizer until I know I got good germination

I fertilize before, primarily because I'm going to incorporate it into the soil through tilling. Some aspects of fertilizer and lime are not very mobile. They will not percolate down into the soil.

It really depends on what you are planting but for me I'm with mega but I also want my crop to start then it's ahead of the weeds the fertilizer is gonna wake up. Cereal grains will germinate and start on the energy in the seed but then to do well they gonna need nutrients starting about day 5 or 6

I sure wouldn't throw it out and no moisture in the foreseeable future

No, too hot & dry to fertilize clover. I have 15 acres that waiting on for rain before spreading
