My favorite camp food is good old fashion bacon and eggs.......some hash browns, sliced tomato and buttermilk biscuits.

Big pot of venison stew, with beans and all kinds of veggies. I make it every year at camp and afterwards the 6 or 7 of us just lay around and groan-----------amongst other things that shall go unnamed. :D

We made some 'camp chili' once..........

Cooked the meat in the dutch oven and added chili beans, onions, spices, tomatoes and tomato sauce and added just a small amount of sugar to kill the bitterness of the tomato sauce. Slow cooked over an open fire and allowed the smoke from the fire to 'season' the chili.
It was wonderful........

Breakfast:
Sausage/biscuits or Everything Omlet: scrambled eggs, bell peppers, onions, diced ham, hot sausage, cheese.

Supper:
Gumbo
Jambalaya
Chili

Steak and hamburgers for dinner and I have breakfast duty cooking bacon, eggs and texas toast. I wish I had that right now!

Dang it guys,Im sitting here at work starving to death and lunch is 1.5hrs away. I knew better when I clicked on this thread!

It looks like all I will be able to afford this year is Bologna...The cheap greasy stuff...Maybe I can get a loaf of bread at the Day-old bread store...I think I have some packs of mustard in my desk..Those are free...
That is if I get to go back to work and get them...

Slow cooked pork chops with potatoes and onions

pork chops on a grill over an open fire..
potatoes and onions in a cast iron skillet with a pot of mixed beans slow cooking with some bacon drippings for flavor...
Fresh camp made drop biscuits.......
And for desert...apple cobbler cooked in a dutch oven.......

I don't go hungry....

Went one time with friends that said 'everything has been taken care of'.......
had hot Dr. Pepper and cheese crackers........
I'll never do that again............

anything cooked over some decent firewood/charcaol can not beat beat,i have a 15 1/4" cast iron skillet that really makes great fried taters, throw some shag bark hickory bark on the charcoal next time you grill out if you can find some,go easy as you can put too much, when i squirrel hunt i end up with a sack of it even if i dont see any squirrels :) ,mike243

The most difficult and time consuming item I cooked was two hole chickens over an open fire using a 'camp made spit'........but they were good.

I think one of the best things I've had while camping was fresh trout.
Cooked with butter and pepper and then sprayed with lemon...that was just fantastic!
