Sometimes I wonder after several passes with a bronze brush followed by dirty patches if the patches are dirty cause built up fouling on the brush itself is the issue.

My Tikka 308 has not been shot much. I ran some patches with Bore Scrubber and followed with a brush. No matter how many times I repeated this process patches were coming out dirty after brushing. If I didn't brush the bore patches were coming out perfectly clean.

Thoughts?

I use the Foam cleaners and run clean patches one way chamber to muzzle. There are downsides but nothing is more effective in my experience.

I quit using bronze brushes when I turned a 270 brush into a 22 brush. The solvent can and will eat a bronze brush. Anymore I just used a couple patches. I'm not looking to get my barrel like a new one.

Big or small, kill em all

I use Otis nylon brushes and a goooood solvent. Not sure if your brush is causing fouling or not...

I just use a good barrel/bore jag with butches bore shine with the proper size patch and a one piece rod with a bore guide.
Clean from chamber to to muzzle end. I haven't used a brush in years.

This, & Hoppe's #9 Bench Rest copper bore cleaner every 100 rounds or so or if accuracy begins to suffer. Bore Snake & oil at the range if I'm so inclined.
