I've been using 300 gr Hornady XTP MAG the past few years, but decided to try the 250 Shockwave/SST this year, with 90 gr loose 777.

I shot a buck quartering toward me a bit more than I realized. the bullet entered ribs a couple inches behind the front shoulder, got lung, liver, a little guts, broke the big leg bone below the hip on the opposite side, and exited.

Other than trimming a bit of bone scraps in the one ham, the meat was very clean and easy to process, with both front quarters free of bloodshot meat.

Quite pleased.

Are you shooting the easy glide sabots or the regular black ones?

I'm thinking about switching to Hornady SST from the Harvester Scorpion PT Golds. There's something to be said about shooting a sabot that is available in local stores. I only find Harvester Scorpion PT Gold online.

I bought a couple of 50 bulk pack of the yellow Super Glide Sabots when I bought my Triumph, and I'm still using those. The black sabots were noticeably harder to load in the Triumph than they were in my CVA Optima.

BTW, Joe got a doe and a half-rack buck (5 points one side, other side broken off just above the brow tine) and I shot a spike last weekend. I had a 7 point walk right under my stand on Wednesday morning, video in the Trail camera section.

Congrats to you and Joe! Out of 5 hunters in our club that are pretty close, all of us killed a deer today. That's never happened before. It's been a good season so far.

I'm thinking of buying bulk Harvester sabots and the bullets...50 per package. That way I'm not close to running out.

I have been shooting them for 4 or 5 years now out of my triumph and I love them. Not the super glides though. My gun will not shoot them good at all. A 6" group at 100yds is all I could get but they were real easy to load. I switched to the black sabots ( mag express , I think ) and they were extremely hard to load but shot great, 1" group @ 100yds. 100 grains of blackhorn 209 and I get passthroughs every time so far. Some deer dropped and some ran but left great blood trails.
I shot a big 8 Wednesday and I went to where he was standing and found great blood. I just happened to see one leaf that was covered in blood but I noticed something yellow laying on it. It was the the plastic tip of the shockwave.

This is the same results out of my traditions and my buddies optima. I have great results from the horandy sst with the red sabot tight group and easier to load than the black saboted mag express
