A hussy doe.... On several occasions I've heard and watched does calling out to bucks. I'm almost sure all these instances involved does in heat. The one that I remember most vividly was on a muzzleloader hunt and I was on stand located just on the edge of a small, dry ditch. A 10 pointer chased a doe dead to my stand. The doe kept running another 100 yards down through the woods but the poor buck was spent. He stopped standing in the ditch right under me with his tongue hanging out and his sides heaving. The doe kept looking back waiting on him to pursue again but he just stood there panting like a dog. For 5 minutes she pranced around loudly calling to him until finally she came running back and convinced him to take off for round 2 and away they went again. Damn Hussy!

Shameful behavior on the doe's part for sure. Don't they know that the "boys" like to do the pursuing?? Probably some of the fault is due to Deer Cocaine usage by local hunters......... :tu:

I did call up two does one morning using a Tending Grunt and Estrus scent. I was surprised to see two does come charging in to within about 15 yards. When I heard a deer crashing towards me, I assumed it was a buck. I shot one of the does and since it was ML season it took me a while to reload. I almost had time to shoot the other before she took off. Definitely two hussies looking for action.

Mike, I don't know if you remember "Jerry Petersen.......or Peterson..........from the 1980's with his original deer bleat calls under the market name Woods Wise, which had a doe on one end, and a buck on the other. He said he got the idea from witnessing a doe going thru the woods and bleating longer than normal bleats and she kept doing it and he witnessed a buck begin to come and chase her more or less of the story.................He was in my mind the "originator" of this idea and I remember meeting him one time at a show and told him as much. I will try to google an old article on it.............. I may still have an original wrapper that came with one of his calls. :super:

Ive had does so hot they come back and tried to get the buck back up that I just killed right off her tail. Talk about a Hussy!

I never had that happen but on several occasions I've had bucks return to a downed doe trying to lift her off the ground. I've even had them bed down beside her when they couldn't get her up. That brings up the topic of shooting hot does to draw in the buck/s that were chasing her or ones that may be passing through. The first time I did that I didn't see the buck standing in the background until he took off after I shot the doe. In a matter of minutes he came back and was standing over the top of her when I shot him. Since then I've intentionally shot a hot doe just for the sake of getting a shot at a buck. It's worked on several occasions and I'll continue doing it.

Yep, had it work both ways, "LOVE" for lack of a better PG term, is a very strong thing and will cause some crazy behavior when things are hottest!

Hormones are a powerful thing...and not just in deer or animals. There's been a many a male killed over a woman, in all species.
