got a chance to get one of these two red dots or 1 magnification scopes.i know that there are hundreds of other options but that's not a option right now.any opinions on any one of these would be appreciated. Only difference i see in red dots is battery and size of sights.going throw on one of my ar 15's for range shooting primarily
 
I do like the eotech sights, but I find the variable power scopes much more useful. After 50 yards, I cannot hold tight enough groups with the 512 I had. I swapped to a Nikon M223, and I like it a lot better. Low power for fast shots, and some zoom for more precision at distance.
 
I have a 1.75-5x35 Vortex Diamondback that I put on an AR after I tried the red dot. It is just a plinker so a $150 scope is fine for it. Actually just bought another one yesterday from palmetto state on a one day deal for $59.

It really helps me as I could not shoot a decent group with a red dot past 50 yards. The 1.75 is really nice because you can literally shoot at 10 yards.
