The state of Maine has a deer feeding program every year as their winters can be very harsh. They even have live feeding cameras setup for folks to watch.

Glad the Elk are getting a leg up.

I know this is tongue in cheek, because that was my first thought as well. But, most of these states have adapted feeding methods to address CWD. How do I know? I just listened to some Utah biologist talk about it.

Pretty cool study they are doing, too. In Utah they have radio collard some deer they are feeding. They darted the fawns, weighed them and did some other screenings. One group of fawns is being supplemental fed and another is not.
So far, they are picking up dead deer where they haven't fed. It's a rough winter this year in some parts.
