Ready to rocknroll!! Installed the new sights today and i LOVE them!

Got tired of the blade sights being horrible with excessive glare on a sunny day. I can't have that when im hunting elk this year and so i upgraded to something a lot better that my eye can focus on clearly.

.380" Front sight, Universal rear sight. Both use .375" dovetail and fit like a glove. The rear sight actually has an additional screw that you tighten down on and it locks the rear sight into the dovetail just for added security.

Came with a total of 6 fiber optics that you can swap out. Some look the same color in the picture but theres one thats more of a yellowish color, along with green, red, and orange. I just switched over to the orange optic as my eye adjusted to the darker color.

The Red tab looking deal is kind of a key that you use to press the spring down that holds the fiber optic in place. Very crafty and looks pretty sturdy

The low-left holes were sighting in shots. The shots at the top of the bulls eye and all in a hole are 3 final shots at 60 yards. I still might be a couple inches low at 100 yards but we will see when I get out there.

250gr REAL conicals lubed with spray on Graphite " Just testing this for now" - Lubed wad, 90gr Goex 2F. CCI #11 Magnum Caps.

oh it can be easily converted to a flintlock. Just pull the bolster, install vent liner, replace lock with flintlock and bam! its a flinter.

Had some trouble with Goex 2f the last time out. Horrible fouling with 90gr goex and it would just start throwing them all over the place.

Today i changed 2 things, lowered my charge to 80gr goex 2f, lubed wad, 250gr REAL conicals @ 100 yards. And I started using a little extra lube around the sides of the wads. Adding that extra lube helps greatly and i felt it take "bite" in the rifling as i pushed the wad down on top of the powder before loading the conical.

3 shot group @ 100 yards with the new sights. Bulls eye is 3" Diameter. Next time i will go back to 90gr and see how she does with those extra lubed wads.

2Fg black powder and an unpatched projectile is gonna foul. It's just the nature of the beast. You might try different lubes to help soften the fouling or switch to 3Fg powder. I've always found that 3Fg burns somewhat cleaner than 2Fg.

If this is just going to be a hunting gun, I would be more concerned with where that first shot out of a clean barrel is going. Clean well between shots, allowing the barrel to cool, and try to establish your group this way.

If you're just shooting for fun I'd drop that powder charge back and enjoy. Who knows?....you might find a more accurate combination with a lite charge. I suspect 60 to 70 grains would still get the job done with proper shot placement.

One other thing about fouling and shooting cast bullets.....I have shot military musket and minie balls in matches for years with my share of success. The aggregates generally consist of three to four 10 shot matches. After the first shot I always push the minie down with a steel range rod and damp patch. This keeps the bore consistantly "dirty" ahead of the bullet were it really matters. Never do I bother to to clean the gun until I'm finished....Hope this might you out a little.

I did make sure to swab between shots, I wasn't willing to take the risk and have to beat the bullet down.
