I know Ima get hammered on this but I don't care. I went fishing today on Tims Ford And while launching 3 guys from Hamilton county had 3 bucks on their boat. Well I was like cool , after I was done fishing they come back with guns ! No wonder there are no deer out east, they shoot every deer they see! It's like they can't help it! I decided to go for a evening hunt today and when I pull up my new east Tn border mates have 5 does stacked in the back of their truck! If they are gonna be like that stay away from middle Tn! And no I'm not jealous I've had a great year.

I take it you are in Unit L?

I live in E. TN and own property on the plateau in unit A. I only kill enough deer (usually only 1) for us to eat a little meat. There are hunters in all parts of the state who have different ideas about what and how many deer they want to kill. The most deer I've ever seen killed was by "middle" tennesseeans on a farm in Maury County. Five hunters killed 3 does a day for 3 days straight.

There are people everywhere who will kill every deer they see, not jut east TN. We just have better habitat here in middle TN I guess. Plenty of deer to shoot and not hurt the herd.

Lol I wish the East TN guys would chill out a little bit too.. Along with the guys from Shelby County that come up to Henderson county for some crazy reason. They can do what they want though.. It's legal and they enjoy it. I'm happy for them if they are happy.

Sure would be nice to see more bucks make it beyond 2.5 though

I dont understand, are you upset caused they killed deer or what. If the limit is 3 a day, and they kill 3 a day, oh well, change the limit, i still dont understand the problem

X2 not bashing you either :)

Here is my problem, one day at my n-laws farm I saw over 100 does in 1 evening promise! I could shoot 3 does a day everyday but I don't. Just because its legal don't mean you have to shoot every deer you see! I enjoy watching deer just as much as killing them. As I type i just watched a hot doe and yearling 6 pt both get mowed down after I watched them run across the road! That was wild! I just wish they didn't act like they HAD to kill every deer they see.

My ONE THREE day trip to unit L I was lucky enough to bring home four deer. ALL of it will be eaten and none will be wasted. I could have easily killed my nine doe limit but after I was sure my freezer was full I hunted only for a ten pt or better and passed on over a dozen does that I saw the final morning.

I know how you feel as I get this way about guys insisting on keeping their limit of fish every time they fish , but please don't lump everyone from east TN in the same boat.

Some people like to kill more deer than others. As long as they stay in the limits and the meat is put to good use, I don't have a problem with it.

^^^^ This. As long as the meat is being eatin, go for it!

I don't understand the problem??? Are they hunting your farm? How does this effect you on your farm??? I don't shoot every deer I see but I do try to stack 6 or 7 on the freezer every year to feed my family who loves venison. That may be what a lot of east Tn hunters are trying to do also.

Maybe they went over to Tims Ford because they don't have the skills to get it done back home. We had some friends come up from Clarksville back in the spring. They wanted to kill a "mountain gobbler". Because, don't you know they where turkey killing machines. They limit out every year down there in the flat land and big farms. Well after a couple of day's of climbing 3 and 4000 ft. ridges and belly aching about how cold and windy it was and the birds where call shy and bla bla bla. They went home empty handed. But you know, I don't blame the western boy's for not killing anything up here. It just is what it is.

i see the same thing in my area that wobblegobble is saying.some people are just numbers hunters and alot are out for the meat.i know in my area its the reason nobody is leaseing their land or letting new members on their clubs, but to each their own

The wife's family land has been leased to a group from East Tennessee for 20 years or so now. They leave piles of untagged deer rotting in the fields, leave gut piles rotting in the ponds and hang feeders all over the property full of corn year round.

I was told nobody cares so I just shut up. Haven't gone back and got my own lease. It is like heaven.

i agree. there are a lot of number hunters out there who choose to shoot every deer they see. they like the attention and boost their self confidence levels. that is just who they are. it will always be like that. you will notice they always choose deer for this activity, because they are easy to kill in high numbers and it doesn't take much marksmanship or physical prowess to do so. just go sit on the edge of a field in unit L and shoot 3 huge targets at dark.

not to mention the money they spend in the area. many areas rely on visiting hunters to carry them through the year.

Maybe you should start! Having that many deer in the area is not a healthy situation for the deer or any of the other species trying to share the same area.

Yup, don't they have a 3 doe a day limit for a reason? It ain't us East Tennessee guys fault. Like BSK says it ain't healthy. Maybe you should hand your land over to the more experienced from the east so we can manage your herd better.

I don't understand it either but its not for me to understand. what ever floats their boat. but at the same time I don't want to see people complaining about not seeing deer when they shoot everyone they see. that's the only thing id say. as long as its legal then I don't have anything to say. now if they start breaking the law that's when I personally have a problem. but seems like they were within the law.

No thanks, my n-laws have managed their land this way for 30+ years they have plenty of crops, food plots, and deer. Plus I've observed 70+ turkeys in the same area at times. Anyways I don't have a problem with anyone hunting for meat or what not but most middle Tn guys have stereotyped the east Tn hunter as brown and down guys, and most that I've observed don't help that stereotype....There are guys from the east that lease many acres not far from me that manage and do things correct, Im sorry for grouping everyone together.
