Hello everyone,
This is my first post on here. My situation is probably more common than I realize. I attempted to plant a small crop of corn in an attempt to provide a food source for the deer that I'm hunting. My key word there is 'attempted' as the corn did not produce. It came up strong, but died out prior to actually producing any product.
That being said, my question here is, is there anything that I can do this late in the year to provide some sort of attractant for the deer? Obviously, I want to stay legal here, so that's my number 1 concern here.

Welcome to the fire! I'm also in east TN. I can't help with your question but I know someone on here will!

I greatly appreciate it! I'm afraid I'm out of luck, but I wanted to see if anybody else has had any success with something last minute, legally.

You can always plant winter wheat if you're wanting some kind of food plot or just find natural food sources and hunt those.
I had considered that, but wasn't sure on the germination period for it. Do you know how long it takes for that to come up?

Not much you can do to get any results this time of year. Deer are hitting acorns now.
I had kinda figured I was SOL on the whole situation, but I wasn't sure. I was hoping I could get lucky with something designed for the fall/winter months or something.

I planted 4 different plots of winter wheat on Labor Day and it took it about a week to come up. You can plant wheat all the way up till mid October, maybe later.

Oh, that's excellent news! I'll head to the local co-op and pick some up today. I don't have any hardwoods or oaks nearby where I'm hunting, so I'll take any help I can get at this point.

Winter wheat and crimson clover will work. I would also mix in some cereal rye due to its ability to germinate at lower temperatures.

Can't go wrong with oats. It will grow in your truck bed. Planted some 10 days ago and the deer are already on it. (Not in the truck bed) buck forage oats

I ended up getting some at the co-op. I've been out of town for work the last few weeks and haven't been able to hunt. I'm hoping that I had some success in growing it. I appreciate the advice!

Throw some turnips in with it.
