Earwigs

Are you gardeners in TN bothered by Earwigs (pincher bugs)?
They were terrible here last year and have started in this year.
They seem to feeed mostly at night. I have gone out at night with a flashlight and shown them I have pinchers too. Last year I had a choice, have my entire garden eaten up or use poison on them. Use Diazanon (sp). I sprayed the leaves at night and the ground in the daytime. One application at night and one in the daytime did the job. My garden did come back pretty good.
However, reading the label on the Diazanon, it says it is highly toxic to bees. The bees are now working my blossoms and I hate to kill them. Guess I'll just monitor the amount of damage the earwigs do and go fm there. Any helps?

i try not to use any pesticide during the bloom, or nectar flow for honey bees. sevin is also toxic to bees.

never had an earwig problem, but they sure are ugly.

Learned this the other day. Use Dawn dishwater liquid ( 4 oz. per gallon) Worked great for Jap beattles on crepe myrtles and tomatoes in garden. No pesticide.

Have you actually tried your soap mixture on earwigs?
If you have, did you have to spray the mixture directly on the bodies of the bugs? I've read you have to do that.
I went out to my garden today and found 3 earwigs, out even in bright hot sunshine. One was dead and the other two suffered the above mentioned "finding out that I had pinchers too". But on a practical vein, I would be hard pressed to try to "pinch" all or even most of them.
I can put up with some damage but I'm NOT going to let them eat up everything in my garden as they almost did last year.
So far they are only on some cucumber vines, chard and turnip greens. If they start on my tomatoes as they did last year, they will be history. Thanks Ray

Maybe earwigs don't exist in TN?? They sure do in CO. Ray
