Ain't got the early season buck thing down yet. Last year saw 2 young bucks on public in a bean field just after sunset. Early season ill be going for a doe in thicker woods with good understory. but will gladly take a shooter buck if it walks by. Curious to see what walks by on opening day, because I've got one buck that looks to be 3.5+ on camera. New bowhunting spot for me on public land. Creek bottom

Terrain is not the point....Food sources are....

X2!

Yea I didn't really mean just terrain. Cover types, oak groves but in what type locations.., I think the key to big bucks in the early season is finding food sources nearest to cover or maybe a terrain funnel they use going to and from. But the first week is critical and then your chances go way down... Probably just before or after a storm the first weekis the best shot at an early season buck. Why I'm not to tore up over the chance of storm next week, I just hope it's at night...

food sources especially beans if they are still green, acorns, and persimmons. the later in the year it gets the more things change always gotta adapt.

Beans are brown acorns and persimmions are dropping. Yet i still find myself hunting terrian features leading to the food.

beans at our place are still green. and will be for atleast 2-3 more weeks. that's why I love winter wheat it makes the farmers put in beans later in the year.

Wherever the acorns are falling. Usually the mountain oaks first, then the whites when they start falling. Saw a few whites already dropping yesterday, so my goal Friday and coming out of the woods on Saturday morning is to find a white that they are hitting
