Does anyone remember people stringing apple pieces and hanging them to dry. I'm wanting to do this and wandering if anybody hs done this ?

My grandma use to dip them in lemon juice first, then string them up to dry. She said the lemon juice wasn't necessary if you didn't mind them turning brown. I've never tried any of the apple recipes, but there are several different ways to preserve apples in the Foxfire books.

I was too young to remember what they did with them first but I know the couple that lived down the road from us would slice them then lay them out on picnic tables and cover them with a sheet.
I loved them things too.

you better do it inside, unless you have a week or two of humidity below 60% and have them covered so the flies and pantry moths cant get to them.

I remember my granny slicing and laying on aluminum foil under the back glass in my papaw's "66 Impala. Man that car smelled good!
